Based on its successful "flagship" quick setting mortar QSM, the TECROC Highway range has been formulated for easy placement and to meet current Department of Transport recommendations on compressive strength prior to road opening.
Developed WITHOUT the use of high alumina cement, Highway C1, C2, C3 mortars are formulated to reach sufficient strength for road opening - (in excess of 20N/mm 2) - in one hour, two hours and three hours respectively, at a temperature of 20°C. Where even quicker high strength characteristics are required, TECROC QSM meets the requirement in just 45 minutes.
Each Highway mortar has the same water requirement and can be mixed mechanically using a drill and stirrer, or by hand in a barrow or on a spot board.
All Highway mortars have a working time of up to 15 minutes, dependent upon temperature, and further work such as haunching can be carried out between 20 and 40 minutes, depending upon the variant chosen, temperature and conditions.
Each of the mortars can be placed in sections of 15mm to 50mm in thickness, with the option of adding up to 30 per cent shingle where thicker beds are required. No special curing is required under normal conditions and temperatures between 5°C and 35°C.
The chloride-free cement-based compounds are suitable for applications requiring quick return to service, including the re-bedding of manhole frames, setting new frame systems and supporting road furniture.
All three TECROC Highway mortars have been tested in accordance with appropriate British Standards and conform to DTp: HD27/94 Design Manual for Roads and Bridges Vol 7 Sec2 3.11
