WEBAC 4270 SPECIAL PRIMER AVOIDS BURNING ISSUE WHEN COATING OILY AND GREASY CONCRETE FLOORS

WHEN Protective Surface Coatings Ltd of Kidderminster won the contract to refurbish a 2,000m2 concrete floor at GKN Chassis Systems Ltd they were faced with the fairly common problem of an existing concrete substrate contaminated with oil and grease.

They sought an effective solution to avoid the problem of contaminants either showing through the finished floor or causing debonding.

The usual method of treating this problem, burning the oil or grease out of the floor using hot compressed air, could not be used due to the effects of smoke on the adjoining part of the factory that was still in use. Using a degreasant was also ruled out due to the difficulties of disposal of the used degreasant.

WEBAC 4270 Special Epoxy Primer was specified to treat the floor in the contaminated areas. This primer is specially manufactured to deal with oil, grease & animal fats on concrete surfaces. Extensive cleaning is not required and in most cases only an open pored surface is required. WEBAC 4270 Special Epoxy Primer will also deal with damp floors.

WEBAC 4270 has a very low viscosity, is solvent free and acts as a single coat primer for most subsequent WEBAC Floor Coatings, screeds and most other floor refurbishment materials. It is very economical and, dependent on substrate surface profile, is competitive with normal epoxy primers. It is easily applied using conventional tools but it must be worked into the surface using a scrubbing action.

WEBAC IMPROVED RESIN INJECTION TUBE SYSTEM LAUNCHED IN UK

THE improved WEBAC Type 1 Injection Tube used in conjunction with the range of WEBAC injection resins provides a flexible and reliable sealing system for construction joints in new concrete structures.

It can be used either as a sealing method on its own or to supplement a normal waterbar where an additional safeguard is required.

The WEBAC Injection Tube, available exclusively in the UK through sole distributor TECROC Products, is specially designed for use in the construction of water tanks, underground car parks, tunnels, subways and in any area where a complete water seal is imperative.

The Type 1 Injection Tube consists of a flexible, compression-proof, inner tube featuring discharge openings at regular intervals. The tube is covered with a thin plastic coating, which prevents the ingress of water or fine particles of cement, PFA, or other materials during the concrete pour, avoiding the blockages often experienced with standard fabric-covered tube.

The new plastic covering also assists the lateral travel of any post-injected resin.

The tube -- supplied in lengths of up to 10 metres -- can be cut to a suitable length and is fixed down mechanically on the centre line of the previous concreting work. It is flexible enough to adapt to most angle changes. The ends of each length of tube are brought out of the shuttering via special injection fittings.

After the shuttering has been removed, and only if required, a low viscosity WEBAC Injection Resin is pumped under pressure into the tube. This causes the plastic coating over the discharge holes to break and the resin to spread out and completely fill the joint throughout its width. This is an improvement over most types of waterbar that only prevent water ingress at a single point.

Due to the dimensions of the WEBAC Type 1 Injection Tube, resin use is minimised.

WEBAC RESIN INJECTION CURES KICKER JOINT PROBLEMS.

AN effective easily-applied and proven solution to the common problem of water leaking into concrete structures at the kicker joint has been launched in the UK by TECROC.

Water ingress into buildings at the kicker joint is usually due to a waterbar being accidentally displaced and unnoticed during the concrete pour or because of honeycombed concrete caused by poor vibration.

Available in the UK only from TECROC Products, the WEBAC PU Injection Resin System provides a quick and efficient permanent cure. Holes suitable to take a WEBAC Injection Packer are drilled at intervals just above the kicker and are angled at approximately 45% to intersect the kicker joint about halfway through the wall thickness.

WEBAC Injection Packers are then screwed in place and the PU Injection Resin is pumped into the structure under pressure using one of a range of pumps. The whole thickness of the joint and any voids are then completely filled.

The WEBAC PU Injection Resins contains some of the lowest viscosity materials available, which means the finest cracks or voids can be filled. This saves costly time and call back visits.

The choice of material is dependent on whether the joints are issuing water, are damp or dry. TECROC Products provides full technical assistance on WEBAC injected resin systems and can also advise on suitable contractors.
